Assamese travel fiction released

It was a homely meeting organized at Guwahati Press Club that witnessed the release of a travel fiction titled Ontarior Seuj Dalisat (Over Green Carpet of Ontario) and penned by Dr Jagadindra Raychoudhury in presence of several senior journalists. Inaugurating the book, Swapnaneel Barua, a scholar and also a senior bureaucrat of Assam, pointed out that the writer not only documented various events related to his visit to Canada, but also painted a humanist reminiscence with his created characters.

The function, held on 1 July 2015, was also addressed by senior journalists like Hiten Mahanta, Rupam Barua, PJ Barua, Mukul Kalita, Ranen Kumar Goswami, Nava Thakuria and Pramod Kalita. Moderated by journalist Sabita Lahkar, the meeting was graced by acclaimed story writer Jyotish Sikder, professors Anup Talukder & Nirmali Medhi, singers Anindita Choudhury & Kishor Giri and Bitopan & Sneha. A prolific writer, Dr Raychoudhury is an associate professor of B Barua College, Guwahati and contributor to various Assam based newspapers and magazines. A smiling personality Dr Raychoudhury is also a regular participant in various radio programs and television talk shows. Published by Basundhara publication of Hatigaon in Guwahati, the book has 192 pages with a nice cover designed by prominent artist Padma Singha. It is priced at Rs 250/- per copy.

we know or have read many travel related books but "Ontario'r heuj dolisat" is not only a travel experience but is a travel fiction..A great experience as you keep on reading this book and gain new knowledge & issues..we expect many new books from him and wish him success..

KOKRAJHAR:A dreaded NDFB-S rebel is undergoing bullet injury treatment in hospital after he was trapped during the recent counter insurgency operation at Dhumbazar in Kokrajhar. Identified as Maothi alias Martyr Narzary, he received multiple bullet injury in his body to be rushed to the hospital. police claimed to have seized a pistol from the rebel after the encounter where the rebel outfit lost its western commander.
MARGHERITA: Security forces are fanning in search Arunav Phukan in Margherita a day after suspected ULFA-I rebels kidnapped the local BJP leader's son in Tinsukia district on Friday. Army, police and para military forces are concentrating the search operation along the Assam- Arunachal Pradesh border where he has gone missing as he was going to look after his father's business in Wala Basti. GUWAHATI: The United Liberation Front of Asom (I) has strongly condemned the recent shoot out in Golaghat where twelve tea garden workers were injured in firing by their owner. In a statement issued on Friday, the rebel outfit fighting for an independent Assam said they have been probing the incident and that the guilty must be punished. They said they would always be fighting for the suppressed and,marginalized section of the society.
GUWAHATI: The Gauhati High Court has reserved its ruling on the bail petitions moved by 19 ACS and APS officers who were arrested in the APSC cash for jobs scam. A bench of Justice Rumi Kumari Phukan heard the bail petitions on Friday and reserved the ruling. The ruling is expected in a day or two. All of these officers have been sent to jail after the end of the police remand.  The court further heard the anticipatory bail petition of Nishamoni Deka who has been absconding since the police launched the massive drive against these ACS and APS officers. The Supreme Court has already rejected the anticipatory bail plea.    
NEW DELHI: Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal said Assam will be a major south east Asian destination for foreign investment when the north eastern state is hosting the global investors’ summit in the capital city of Guwahati in February.
