Two prominent BJP leaders want their son and daughters to contest the assembly polls early next year.
They have already applied for tickets before the state unit leadership to be confirmed by the central leadership within the next three months. Sources told Assam Times that Nagaon MP Rajen Gohain is mounting pressure on the party leadership to help his son Ritul Borgohain contest from Nagaon constituency.
Suman Haripriya, the film maker daughter of Guwahati MP Bijoya Chakrabartty is also in the race for ticket to contest the assembly polls. She is believed to have preferred the Palashbari constituency.
Party president Siddharth Bhattachaya on Wednesday has submitted the applications before the central leadership for consideration which will need at least four months to confirm. At least 3600 leaders have applied for 126 constituencies.
