NTPC Bongaigaon commissions 250 MW

The NTPC Bongaigaon Thermal Power Project(BgTPP),Salakati  has  commissioned the first 250 Megawatt(MW) capacity unit of (3 x 250 MW) successfully with NE Regional Grid on June 22 in Kokrajhar.

Speaking the media men at BgTPP conference hall today Utpal Chakrabarty,Group General Manager(GGM) of NTPC BgTPP,Salakati announced that the power project has successfully commissioned to enable the Unit to send power to the grid from its generation. He told that this is the 1st Unit of NTPC in North-Eastern part of India and state of Assam will get 50% power of the generated power from this project unit and remaining other two 2 and 3 units of 2x250 power generations will be implementation by 15 to 17 months next.

Chakrabarty told, ‘We have gone through the 250 MW on full loading in its succssfull and subsequently on the same day with full loading.It is a great success for all of us for this moment that incidently this is the first 250 MW power production in the state of Assam and big such single big unit thermal power production and never power unit of Assam was commissioned in the state of Assam.This is the  previlege and honour of the state of Assam in power generation sector’.

He also told that all related function and jobs will be implemented within six months and remaining workrs in the project will see a succssfull intiative.

Mentioned be made that the project was laid foundation by the then Prime Minister Dr Manmahan Singh on January 16 in 2006 and was scheduled to complete by 2011,but due to several reasons prevailed in the region, the commissioned was delayed and successfully the first unit of 250 MW was commissioned.

Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS) activists today attacked a toll gate at Dahalapara along the 31 c national highway under Bijni subdivision of Chirang district.According to sources said around a hundred KMSS activists and locals attacked and damaged the toll gate which is run by a Mumbai based Indradeep Construction Company, seven persons said to be money collectors at the toll gate were injured in the attack, besides 25 computers, 35 CCTV were damaged in the attacked.Conflict was going on in a toll gate on National Highway in the state since it was installed in many parts with angry public demanding lifting of the toll gate. One person identified as  Bhenda Sutradhar, 46 of Bangaldoba Sutradharbasti  in Kokrajhar died when lightning struck him this evening around 4.30 pm. Two cattles in the area also died in the lightning, sources said.Thunder storms with heavy rains lashes many parts of Kokrakhar since today damaging houses and uprooting today.The tin roof of Haloadol ME School in Kokrajhar was blown half a kilometer away in the storm damaging mid-day meal food stored in the school building and study materials. The storm also damaged several houses and uprooted trees in the area. 
A massive fire gutted a bakery at Subaijhar Road under Bijni police station in Chirang district in the wee hours late last night. According to Aup Dey, owner of the Sriguru Bakery told that fire occurred due to short circuit of the power and three huts in the complex were totally set ablaze and lakhs of properties were ruined.Later, the fire was controlled by fire tenders.

Police apprehended the Kokrajhar district commander of the National Liberation Front Of Bengali(NLFB) Mithu Debnath, 26, from near NRL Petrol depot in Kokrajhar.Police said Debnath, arrest came following the arrest of two cadres of the outfit Amar Paul @ Gudu(27) and Chittaranjan Sarkar(23) on Monday last along with a pistol, 2 live ammunitions, one magazine and 3 mobile handsets from Santinagar village. Paul had admitted of being a member of the outfit and working under Debnath. Two hardcore cadre of National Liberation Front of Bengali(NLFB) were arrested with arms from Santinagar in Kokrajhar this evening.Police said that the hardcore cadres of NLFB were arrested during search operation at Santinagar area under Kokrajhar PS after getting specific information about their presence tis evening in Kokrajhar town.The arrested were identified as Amar Paul and Chittaranjan Sarkar of Santinagar of Kokrajhar town.A pistol, magzine,two round live bullet and three mobile handsets were recovered from their possesion.The arrested cdares were involved with extortion demands from businessmen,besides anti-social activities,police officer said.
