The mortal remains of Hamen SP Nityananda Goswami and his PSO consigned to flames in Guwahati on Saturday two days after the duo were killed in encounter with UPLA in Karbi Anglong.
After post mortem formalities, the lifeless duo were brought to the Fourth APBn headuarters in Guwahati where chief minister Tarun Gogoi and union home minister Kiren Rijiju paid their last respect along with other top ranked police and civil officials.
The duo were taken to the Nabagrha funeral ground for last rites with full state honour.

The All BTC Contractual TET (Teacher Eligibility Test) Teacher Association are on 72-hours long hunger strike at Rashmela ground in Kokrajhar since 10 am on Monday on their various demand and grievances.
Hundreds of teachers from four districts of BTC are carrying out the strike to press the BTC administration to fulfilled their demands.
The demands which included regularization of posts, payment of balance remuneration, equal remuneration and privileges with the TET teachers appointed under SSA etc.
Pulindra Barman, president of the association said’, ‘The TET qualified teachers of BTAD covering four districts are demanding on genuine issues, but the BTC education department is not taking any initiative of our legal demands. So, we compelled to go for the hunger strike on the occasion of Magh Bihu celebration against the injustice of BTC’, he said. The association stated that the BTC education authority has appointed over 3300 TET qualified candidates into Lower Primary(LP) and Upper Primary (UP) Schools in the four BTC districts on 10 February, 2015 on contractual basis for six months (now the period of six months has extended up to 12 months), but they are yet to get the salary for last six months were released. Moreover, the BTC education authority has not taken any measures for the regularization of the posts said Barman. They threatened to go against the ruling BTC party if their demands are not meet before the ensuing Assembly election.
Aminur Hussain,secretary of the association strongly criticized the BTC education department for not initiating any measures to the issues and problems of the engaged contractual in the council.
