BJP backs dark horse as CM candidate!

With a fresh set of measures BJP is gearing up for assembly polls early next year. The central leadership are finalizing a slew of strategies to wrest power from Congress in Dispur.

Much to everybody’s surprise, the leadership in New Delhi are believed to have been contemplating a veteran to be projected as chief ministerial candidate in the assembly polls.

Reliable sources told Assam Times that the central leaders are in constant touch with the veteran who hails from Jorhat district.

“We have nothing to oppose even if the central leadership want a dark horse to be projected as chief minister. Till he was sworn in as chief minister in 2001, Tarun Gogoi as a dark horse,” said senior leaders who refused to be named.

The state leadership are not unaware of the strange development. The entire issue did not figure when the central leaders held a brain storming session in Jorhat very recently.

Notably, the state BJP leadership is unhappy with secret race for the chief ministerial candidate. Union minister Sarbananda Sonowal, who is known to be the choice of prime minister Narendra Modi lacks endorsement from RSS.

But sitting state unit president Siddharth Bhattacharya still enjoys the support of RSS. That’s why, the party has been finding it quite difficult to name the chief ministerial candidate.
