Puja festivity grips Golaghat

Sounds of dhakis seem to have gripped the people of Golaghat as the entire district is preparing for the Durga puja from Wednesday. The idols of the goddess Durga are getting finishing touch before being installed in the various pendals. 

Puja pendals are joining an undeclared race for decoration with colourful electric lights to pull huge crowd. These include Golaghat Puja Samity, Sarwajanin Taruni Vallabh Dev Goswami Station Road Puja Samity, Golaghat Sanatan Dharma Samaj, Kalibari Puja Samity, G.F Road Puja Committee, Sri Sri Ramkrishna Sewa Samity,Golaghat Town Puja Committy , Hindi School Road Puja Commity, Junakinagar Sarwajanik Puja Samity, Junakinagar Tiniyali Sarwajanin Puja Samity,Golaghat Harizan Puja Commity, Municipality Puja Samity,Sri Sri Shivalay Navagrah Mandir.

 

People welcome final draft of NRC in Udalguri

UDALGURI: Along with other parts of the state,the final draft of NRC was published here at Udalguri in a very peaceful atmoshphere. Out of total 8,76,030 applications received by the NRC authority, 7,48,803 names figured in the complete draft of this historic document of Citizenship in Udalguri district and for some reasons or non availability of supporting documents, a total of 1,27,227 names didn't find place in the full version of the draft of NRC.But,an order issued immediately after the draft publication of the NRC, Dilip kr Das deputy commissioner of Udalguri district said that applicants may approach the concerned LRCR at the NRC Seva Kendras(NSK) from August 7 to September 28 next to know about the reasons for non inclusion of their names in the complete draft of NRC. Any person having any claim or objection or application for correction may apply as per forms available in the NSK or download from the NRC website http://nrcassam.nic.in and submit the same before the concerned LRCR during the period from August 30 to September 28 next subject to certain given conditions,the order added.

Modi on electioneering visit to Tripura

AGARTALA: Electioneering gathers momentum in Tripura for the February 18 assembly polls where the main fight is expected to take place between the Left and BJP.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is on a day long visit to the north eastern state to boost the morale of his party leaders workers and supporters on Thursday.

Talking to www.assamtimes.org, party leaders said Modi is scheduled to land at the Agartala airport at 11.15 in the morning and is leaving straightly to Sonamura in Sipahijala district where he would address a hug rally.

This would be followed by another rally Kailashahar in Unakoti district 2.15 in the afternoon. At 4 in the afternoon, the prime minister is leaving back to New Delhi. The party leaders and workers in many areas are on door to door visit to woo the voters.

Party leaders said Modi’s campaign visit would be a huge boost for the party’s poll prospect which has been trying to end the 20 year long Left regime.
