The Dispur Hospital has organized another Hepatitis B vaccination camp for scribes at Guwahati Press Club on 5 May 2015. The city based media persons, who had already taken the first dose of Hepatitis B vaccine on 5 April last, are being requested to attend the next vaccination camp for second (and final) dose of Hepatitis B vaccine without fail.
Caused by the hepatitis B virus, Hepatitis B is an infectious disease that affects the human liver. It can cause both acute and chronic infections. Shockingly many people may have no symptom during the initial infection. The virus is transmitted by exposure to infectious blood or body fluids. The infection has been preventable by vaccination since 1982 and the vaccination is recommended by the World Health Organization in the first day of life if possible. Statistics reveal that over 750,000 people die of hepatitis B each year.
The second dose (Hepatitis B) vaccination camp will start at 11 am (5 May) in the press club and continue till 1 pm, informed Ujjal Saikia, public relation officer of Dispur Hospitals Pvt Ltd, Ganeshguri, Guwahati.

Renowned vaishnavite veteran Sonaram Chutia passed away after a brief ailment on Wednesday. Chutia died at the Jorhat Medical College Hospital at 9.15 in the evening. He was 98 and was accorded with cabinet rank 3 years back. Born on June 8 in 1915, Chutia cleared his graduation in science from Cotton College. Karimganj police on Wednesday confirmed the arrest of a youth for torturing a five-year-old girl. The five-year-old girl, who went missing on January 28 evening, was found lying in a paddy field with severe injuries near her house at Pinnagar village on January 29. Her father alleged that she was raped by the youth, who was arrested by the police on the basis of the allegation. But the youth claimed that he was asked by the girl's father to take her home but she entered a wedding function on the way and went missing from there. ULFA has owned up the responsibility of the strike in oil pipeline at Makum on Tuesday. Security forces claimed to have killed a hardcore ULFA militant following a heavy exchange of firing in Goalpara district on Tuesday.The encounter took place in early in the morning at Khardang near Dudhnoi bordering Meghalaya where the ULFA militant was killed to be later identified as Niyar Asom.
