Timbers seized

Forest officials managed to seize Sal timbers laden in a truck in a regular checking at Dahlapara Toll gate under Bijni sub-division in Chirang district today.

Forest officials from Rakaldhubi Beat office getting tiptop information about carrying of timbers checked the truck and recovered the valuable Sal timbers. The truck bearing registration No.WB-CC-7284 was on way to Barpeta carrying illegal Sal timbers from Kokrajhar.

The cost of the recovery timbers would be over 12 lakhs. The staffs of the truck were absconded from the spot and truck has been kept at Bongaigaon forest depot office, a forest official informed.

NDFB-S ultra held

Security forces apprehend a NDFB(S) cadre from Basabil area under Gossaigaon PS on Sunday in Kokrajhar district. Based on information about the presence of the militant outfit cadres in the area, a joint team of police and army launched an operation where a listed cadre of Gossaigaon platoon of the NDFB(S) was arrested along with arms. The Bodoland People’s Front (BPF) has left three constituencies- Sorbhog, Rangia and Bhawanipur to the Bharatiya Janata party (BJP), its ally party.
