Sambu Singh, Joint Secretary (NE) Ministry of Home Affairs along with Ashok Prasad Special Security of Home Department Internal today visited Kokrajhar to review the security ahead of the BTC election on April 8.
The two senior officials held an important security review meeting with senior officials from the civil administration, security officials from the police, army, SSB, BSF at Kokrajhar Circuit house here.which was attended among others by SN Singh, IGP, Law and Order, Assam, Kishor Jha, Additional Director General of CRPF, and senior officials from the army, SSB an BSF.
Sambhu Singh said the main purpose of the visit is to study the ground situation during elections and also to know the perception of the security forces on the law and order situation.
He said that Home department is geared up for security measures for upcoming BTC poll. He said the security forces are geared to handle any kind of situation if it arises.
He opined that election should be peaceful without any fear and impartial and 'people should be able to vote according to their couscous,according to their faith and according to their belief, he said and urged the security forces have to be vigilant, visible and helpful to the people at large.
He has also mentioned that there is lots of additional central security forces were deployed since three month. The Home department eyes for peacefully election , because of the area is a violence affected he said.
When asked about the operation on the NDFB(Songbijit), he said operation against the militants group will continue till end.
SN Singh IGP of law and order said the Central Government as well as the State eyes very strongly in law and order for carrying out the BTC Poll free and fair. A large number of additional security forces from the central were all ready deployed, he said.
On the Morigaon Rape case incident Singh said that the Police officer was mislead, the OC would be arrest soon, he also mentioned that he has been absconding.
Meanwhile, Promod Boro, President of ABSU who also met Sambhu Singh and Ashok Prasad Internal Special Security of Home Department.
