Barak now on BG map

Gone are the days of yawning communication gap between Barak valley and Brahmaputra valley. The Barak Valley is now on the broad guage map.

Railways Minister Suresh Prabhu opened the Lumding-Silchar broad gauge rail line as he flagged off a goods train at video-conference on Friday.

Days are not far when passenger trains will run on this 210 km route leaving scope for extending it to Tripura in near future.
