Finally the process to update the National Register of Citizens, 1951 begins across the state on Friday. Altogether 81 NRC seva kendras are functioning in Jorhat to cover the entire population in the districts.
Each of the centres are being headed by a gazetted officer who is monitoring the computer and data entry operators.
Officials deployed in this task have started distributing the forms from door-to-door which are also available in the kendras apart from the website.
The authorities have asked the gaon burahs and gaon panchayat secretaries to help the villagers to ensure that all genuine citizens are enlisted in the NRC.
The family members are filling up one form mentioning their names with photographs and all necessary documents needed to be submitted as prescribed in the form.
The last date of submitting the forms is May 31.
