Encephalitis toll alarming

Despite preventive measures, there has been steep rise in the number of death due to Japanese Encephalitis in the state.

Disclosing this in the assembly on Thursday, health minister Dr Nazrul Islam said that 521 people died in JE during the last four years since 2011.. 

According to the minister in 2014 alone, 165 people lost their lives in the state. He said the number of JE victim in 2011 was 115. In 2012, the toll marginally decreased but only to increase again in 2013 with 134.
