3 Adivasis killed in police firing

Three Adivasi people were killed when security forces sprang upon a huge crowd who took to the streets in Dhekiajuli on Wednesday in protest against the NDFB-S attacks where 37 killed in the district.

Armed with bows and arrows thousands of Adivasi people came out to the streets demanding measures to ensure their safety and security. Suddenly, the protesters turned violent when policemen tried to disperse them for defying the indefinite curfew.

A section of the protestors started attacking the security forces forcing them to resort to firing and lathi charge where at least 6 protesters sustained bullet injury. Three seriously injured protestors later died in the hospital. The clash continued for several hours. More and more forces have arrived in the sensitive areas to deal with the situation.
