Cong to sound poll bugle on Jan 4

Come January 4. A resurgent Assam Congress is set to go all out against BJP one and a half years ahead of the assembly polls. Rahul Gandhi will formally kick-off the campaign at a huge rally in Khanapara.

With “Betrayal Day”, the ruling party in the state will launch Mission 79 Plus in 2016 polls to counter BJP’s Mission 84 Plus.

Senior party leaders told Assam Times that APCC president Anjan Dutta has a target 60,000 party workers in the rally to be addressed by Gandhi which would be a poll bugle for the party.

Chief minister Tarun Gogoi has already gave hint of capitalizing on BJP’s U turns in land deal and big dams, NEIIPP suspension, slash in the MNREGA budget, suspension of ration in tea gardens.
