AICC revamp before cabinet rejig!

The appointment of Anjan Dutta as APCC president is believed to have paved the way for chief minister Tarun Gogoi to reshuffle his cabinet at an earlier date.

Sources told Assam Times that Gogoi was waiting for Dutta’s appointment in the hot job for cabinet rejig. Dutta, the man Friday for the chief minister is unlikely oppose Gogoi’s agenda.

Now Gogoi rolls up sleeves to drop at least ten ministers to induct at least 12 new faces. The axe might fall on Kharsing Ingty, Akon Bora, Prithivi Majhi, Tanka Bahadur Rai, Pranati Phukan and Khasing Ingty among others. Debobrata Saikia and Bidya Singh Ingleng have also chances.

Prominent among the new faces include Sarat Borkotoky, Bhupen Bora, Arun Phukan, Chandan Sarkar, Rekibuddin Ahmed. On the other hand, Gogoi is likely to retain Rockybul Hussain, Nazrul Islam, Pradyut Bordoloi, Ajanta Neog at any cost.

Pressure seems to have mounted on Gogoi from his own camp to reshuffle the cabinet. At least six vital post of cabinet ministers have been lying vacant for the last couple of months.

Education and health minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma resigned in August refusing to work under Tarun Gogoi. The chief minister dropped Dr Ardhendu Dey and Siddique Ali Ahmed for doing dissidence. Transport minister Chandan Brahma put in his papers in July after BPF parted ways with Congress.

The chief minister was waiting APCC revamp to reshuffle his cabinet which has been keeping everybody on guessing. With Dutta’s appointment Gogoi has received a shot on his arms for cabinet rejig.
