Good news for Assam tea at a time when Centre has been denying national drink status. The state’s tea is giving fantastic taste in Stockholm at the Nobel Prize ceremony on Wednesday.
This is for the first time a special tea is being served at the grand banquet coming from the state. The blend is made of Assam and Chinese Keemun tea.
According to the Nobel Museum, “In honour of Alfred Nobel, we have composed a special tea blend. The blend is based on a Chinese Keemun tea produced in Qimen country situated in Anhui Province. Blended together with an Indian Assam tea, this tea attains a gorgeous colour and lovely scent.”
It would be a big boost for Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi’s demand for national drink status for tea from the central government to provide an impetus to the consumption and promotion of Assam tea.
