Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that a newspaper can change the face of society if it aims social consciousness.
In his speech at the platinum jubilee celebration function of the Assam Tribune Group at Machkhowa ITA on Saturday evening, Modi said that news papers are a great force in democracy adding that this force should be retained by the journalists.
Assam Tribune Editor Prafulla Govinda Baruah in his welcome speech gave a brief account of the journey of the 75 year old news paper.
Chief minister Tarun Gogoi, Union ministers Kiren Rijiju, Sarbananda Sonowal also shared the dais with the prime minister.
