IIT-G student wins business contest

Himujjal Jibon Sarma, a Masters in Design from IIT, Guwahati has won the prestigious Business Plan competition of Young Indian’s Guwahati Chapter – Road to Ideas with his proposition on innovations in furniture design and manufacturing.

Road to Ideas is a Business Plan competition organised by the city chapter of CII Young Indians as a part of the Global Entrepreneurship Week being celebrated all across the world between 17 to 23 of November this year. 15 entries were received from various colleges and universities across Assam including 1 from Delhi out of which 5 were shortlisted and asked to present their cases.

“The intent of organising this event is to foster the spirit of entrepreneurship by encouraging young minds to share their enterprising ideas and facilitating them with requisite resources to help start-up” said Sunit Jain, Chairman of CII Young Indians, Guwahati Chapter and Director of Outreach Advertising.

Himujjal would receive Rs.1,00,000 as Seed Capital to help kick start as venture from Brand New Day and mentoring from successful entrepreneurs from the local chapter of CII Young Indians.

The state government has constituted a one man inquiry committee headed by Additional Chief Secretary P.P. Verma, to inquire into the incident of alleged assault on the MLA of Mariani Rupjyoti Kurmi, by Police and CRPF Personnel on May 24, 2013 at Mariani.
