Munda , who visited the area and interacted with the flood-hit people on Thursday tried to quell the situation saying that the guilty would not be spared. On the other hand, Goalpara SP Nitul Gogoi, said that police resorted to lathi charge after the protesters refused to end the blockade despite repeated appeal. He further said that the situation went out of control when a section of the protesters tried to damage vehicles on the road.
