Ultra injured in Sonitpur encounter

A dreaded NDFB(s) militant sustained serious injury at an encounter with security forces in Sonitpur district on Wednesday hours after two groups of militants were caught in a crossfire in Udalguri district.

The encounter took place at Laigangpara in Batachipur area along the Assam-Arunachal Pradesh border in the wee hours  where the dreaded militant Sujalang Basumatary was injured. He is believed to have sustained serious bullet injury during an encounter with 36th Assam Rifles and Army's Gajraj Intelligence.

He is undergoing treatment at the Tezpur Medical College Hospital. Police recovered a 7.65-mm pistol, one magazine, two grenades, two 9-mm cartridges and one detonator were recovered from his possession. Three other ultras were also nabbed in the encounter.
