The new political developments in BTC are likely to pose a big threat to ruling BPF. The newly formed Peoples Coordination for Democratic Rights (PCDR) organizing massive political activities in BTC have been considered very significant.PCDR has been formed by ABSU, BPPF, UDPF with direct support of Gorkha Students Union, Adivasi Students Union, Bhojpuri Students Union etc. To raise protest against gross corruption and backwardness in BTC. PCDR has been organizing meetings,workshops in various places in Udalguri district too in view of the upcoming Assembly and BTC elections. A meeting of PCDR has recently been organised at Kabirali in association with ABSU Udalguri district committee on September 19 with day long programme. The meeting was attended by more than thousand representatives of all the organizations mentioned above. Several distinguished leaders namely- Ashok Daimari,Constituency Coordinator,Harisinga; Rabindra Mushahary ,Central Advisor,ABSU; Bhraman Baglari,Working President, UDPF; Rishi Raj Pokhral of Assam Gorkha Sanmilan; Ramananda Chouhan of Bhojpuri Students Union; Dipen Boro,Advisor and Nerkhang Khaklari,President of Udalguri district ABSU attended the meeting.All the leaders urged people to thwart BPF from power in BTC and appeal people to come forward to work for peace, unity, equal development,and a violence and corruption free BTC.
Various organizations and institutions of Kalaigaon areas have condemned the burning down of Shobharani Jatiya Bidyalaya school building by miscreants at Borkola,10 km from Kalaigaon on February 17 at dawn. Founded in 1994,Shobharani Jatiya Bidyalaya has been one of the leading schools in the district, with good academic results. There have been more than 120 students studying in the school from Ankur to class ten. According to information received miscreants had sprayed petrol on the school buildings before setting fire to them.The devastating fire burnt down all The school buildings including office and library.
