Amid mammoth security arrangement, polling in Jamunamukh is over as soon as the clock struck at 5 in the afternoon with a huge turn out.
The polling was by and large peaceful where no major incident or anomalies were reported. From early in the morning voters waited in huge queues to exercise their franchise in the by poll which began at 7 in the morning.
The counting will took place at 8 in the morning on Tuesday along with Silchar and Jamunamukh.
The ruling Congress has fielded Goala's son Rajdeep while Sanjay Kumar Thakur is the BJP nominee. Mukesh Pandey is the AIUDF candidate. The by election was required following the death of Dinesh Prasad Goala in April this year.
