Rainwaters are likely to wreak havoc in Guwahati again during the next couple of days if the weathermen are to be believed.
Met department has predicted heavy rain in and around the premier north eastern city from Sunday which is likely to continue for the next couple of days forcing the authorities to remain alert.
The Meteorological centre has predicted 51 mm, 70 mm, 7l mm, 31 mm and 62 mm respectively within the 50-km radius from Guwahati airport during the next three or four days.
On the other hand, following the alarming rise in the Brahmaputra waterlevel, the authorities have closed down the sluice gates in Bharalumukh to stop the flow of extra water from the mighty river.
But it is unlikely to yield any result as the rain waters will hardly find any passage to flow into the river Brahmaputra.
According to the updates, the Brahmaputra is flowing at 49.28 m in Guwahati which shows a steady rising trend in the next couple of days.
