Rains wreaking havoc in Guwahati

Rain waters are back in Guwahati to wreak havoc after a heavy down pour lashed the city on Wednesday.

The rains that lashed the city for nearly an hour began at 3 in the afternoon to be followed by massive waterlogging in many parts towards the evening.

Parts of the Guwahati-Shillong Road have been caught in the waterlogging to result in a huge traffic snarl for several hours.

Roads and bylanes in Tarun Nagar, Lachit Nagar, Anil Nagar and Nabin Nagar areas have come under the rainwaters forcing the vehicles to halt.

The picture is not different in the busy RG Baruah Road which was submerged near the Assam State Zoo to be followed by the paralyzing traffic snarl in the afternoon.

The rainwaters further threaten to spill into the MLA Hostel in Dispur if this condition remains unchanged. The MLA Hostel faced similar situation around 15 days back.
