Caught in a barrage of criticism for power cuts these days, Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi asked his power minister Pradyut Bordoloi to improve the situation without any delay.
During his meeting in Dispur on Tuesday, Gogoi underscored the need to improve the power scenario by completing the projects under various stages of progress.
The meeting with Assam Power Distribution Company Ltd (APDCL) officials discussed steps to modernize the Lakwa thermal power project to make it more viable and cost-effective.
The 150 MW Lower Kopili hydro-project and the acquisition of around 100 acres of land involving Rs 84 crore for phase-wise construction of the project also figured in the meeting. Bordoloi stressed revenue realisation by the department to keep the cash registers tinkling.
The meeting was attended, among others, by finance additional chief secretary HS Das, APDCL chairman and planning and development, principal secretary EV Eapen, principal secretary to chief minister, Jishnu Barua and power commissioner and secretary Anurag Goel.
