An alleged move to impeach Pranab Gogoi as Speaker created no less flutter among the Congress legislators in the first day of the Assam assembly’s budget session on Monday.
But the Assam government made it plain and simple that it has no idea of how two ruling party legislators have been seeking legal opinion to remove Gogoi.
The clarification came from parliamentary affairs minister Nilomoni Sendeka as he was caught in a war of words with Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma who raised the issue in the zero hour.
Quoting a report published in a newspaper, Dr Sarma who recently put in his papers refusing to work under Tarun Gogoi as chief minister said that two Congress MLAs have taken legal opinion by spending lakhs of rupees seeking options to remove the Speaker.
