Good news for Guwahati. The premier north eastern city gets an Intellectual Property Facilitation Centre. Courtesy encourage innovation and help protect intellectual property rights.
According to FICCI, jointly set up with ministry of micro, small and medium enterprises, the centre would facilitate the MSMEs to identify, protect, maintain, enforce and commercialise intellectual property by helping innovators address their IPR requirements.
Further, it would provide services like patent searches, patent drafting, patent prosecution, facilitation in commercialisation of inventions, trademark prosecution matters etc.
Notably, majority of the countries have a strong IPR regime to power their industries. It is for the MSMEs in India to reap the benefits accruing from IPR system and survive the competition at international market.

The body of a tiger was discovered in the Horonbali Chapori area of Kaziranga National Park and Tiger Reserve, located in Assam’s Biswanath district, on Monday. Forest guards came across the carcass during a routine patrol and alerted senior officials, who subsequently arrived at the scene to recover the remains.
Preliminary findings suggest that the tiger may have died as a result of a fight with another tiger. Guwahati Police has successfully busted a cybercrime gang involved in a major fraud operation. Eight individuals were arrested following a raid at a lodge in Boragaon.
The gang was operating a network of "mule bank accounts" to facilitate the transfer of illegally obtained money. The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) today extended the Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act, 1958, to six police stations across five districts in Manipur. This decision, effective immediately, will remain in place until March 31, 2025.
