Engineer abductors demand money

There is no trace of Niron Mahajan 24 hours after unidentified militant kidnapped the civil engineer from Dima Hasao district on Tuesday.

No militant outfit has so far owned up the responsibility. But the abductors are believed to have talked to his senior colleagues demanding heavy ransom for the release.

Sources told Assam Times that a team of senior Simplex Infrastructures Ltd in Kolkata has arrived in Guwahati to deal with the situation.

Security forces have been continuing combing operation in search of the engineer who kidnapped him when he travelling in a vehicle near the 73 Point.

A group of armed militants stopped it and abducted the engineer. The driver Hari Das was allowed to leave. He returned to the construction site and reported the incident.
