Amid an uneasy development within the Congress Legislature Party, Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi tore apart Siddique Ahmed a day after the border development minister threatened to boycott the upcoming Assam Assembly demanding leadership change.
Talking to reporters in Dispur on Friday, a visibly angry Gogoi said as situation warrants, he would take strong action against him Siddeque Ahmed.
Gogoi said that Ahmed did not have a Congress background and had helped the opposition AIUDF during the Lok Sabha elections.
He said, “no Congressman speak like this. No Congressman has the right to question the High Command. Ahmed has supported AIUDF."
“I would go by the high command’s decision. Everyone had already said they would accept any decision taken by the high command. Party high command will not take a decision under a threat, said the chief minister.
Ahmed said that some Congress MLAs would boycott the Assembly session next month and protests would be held before the party high command in New Delhi, which were 'expressions of anger' by MLAs 'who wanted a change in leadership'.
