Noted singer Khagen Mahanta is no more. The exponent in folk and traditional music of Assam died a sudden death at his own residence in Guwahati on Thursday afternoon. The end came at 3 in the afternoon sending shockwaves across the state.

Popularly known as the king of bihu, Mahanta is survived by his wife Archana Mahanta and son Angaraag Mahanta . Mahanta was born to Harendra Nath Mahanta and Laxmipriya Deviin in Nagaon who showed his musical talent in his childhood. A pall of gloom descends in the entire state following the untimely death of this legend.
