The turn out in the city has not picked up as it was anticipated in the city. But the picture in the outskirt of the city is quite encouraging.
Barring the city, the overall turn out of voters is set to cross 80 per cent. Voters in large numbers were seen in long queues in a section of polling booth till 5 in the evening.
Barring a few incidents of technical glitches in EVMs, the polling was by and large peaceful in the 2345 booths.
The crucial seat witnesses a keen contest between sitting MP Bijaya Chakrabarty of BJP who is pitted against Congress candidate Manas Bora where AGP candidate Birendra Prasad Baishya has no less support in some pockets.
