Voting is underway in Guwahati Lok Sabha constituency with a peaceful note on Thursday. The turn out is expected to be huge in view of the rush of voters in front of the polling booths.
Altogether19, 21,374 electorates are expected to cast their votes in 2345 booths to elect the Lok Sabha member out of 18 candidates in the fray.
The voting will continue till 5 in the evening. In some places, the polling officials would find it difficult to complete the process even by 5 in the evening in view of the huge line of voters who have been waiting hours after hours to exercise their franchise.
It will be a fight between sitting BJP MP Bijoya Chakraborty and Congress candidate Manas Bora. AGP’s Birendra Prasad Baishya is also likely to give a tough fight in the constituency.
Counting will take place on May 16.
