Youth meets watery grave

Amid pomp and gaiety of the Rongali bihu, the watery grave of a youth sends shockwaves across Nagaon district on Monday.

The incident took place at Raidongia area in the morning where a local youth was drown as he was getting his cattle traditional bath in the river Natundubi.

Identified as Dipmoni Kalita, he was washed away by the strong under current of the riverwater when he went into the midst of the river along with other local residents.

Later his body was fished out of the river. A pall of gloom has descended into the entire area following the incident which took place amid the Rongali bihu pomp and gaiety.
