Polling officials injured in Diphu firing

Three polling officials sustained injury when KPLT militants targeted three buses carrying them to Diphu on Tuesday.

The incident took place at Howraghat in the evening when the three buses carrying Electronic voting machines and officials from Nagaon and Tezpur.

KPLT militants who were hiding on the roadside started indiscriminate firing at the buses as soon as they arrived in the in Rongpi Tiniali.

Minutes after the attack, the militants managed to vanish from the spot. Security forces arrived in the spot and launched combing operation to nab the militants.

Normal life remains heavily disrupted in the entire hills district under the impact of the 100 hour long bandh by the Karbi militant outfit who have asked the voters the boycott the Lok Sabha polls salted for April 12.
