Waiting for Rahul Gandhi

Amid a massive security arrangement, people thronging in thousands in Biswanath Chariali to attend Rahul Gandhi’s rally on Monday.

Security forces are fanning across the district to thwart any move by NDFB-S militants to disrupt Gandhi’s poll rally to campaign for Tezpur party candidate Bhupen Bora.

Senior party leaders told Assam Times that security forces are guarding hundreds of buses deployed by the party to ferry people to the rally at the Kamala Kanta Khetra.

Gandhi is scheduled to arrive in Tezpur at 11 in the morning. Then he would straightly leave for Biswanath Charilai to hold the rally. He would fly to Dibrugarh at 1-30 in the afternoon.      

Massive security arrangement is required in the entire district in view of NDFB-S militants’ 12 hour bandh to oppose Rahul Gandhi’s visit.

Rahul's rally in Assam is equally important. He has been strength of congress party and he has given its party a breakthrough. His efforts were transformed into actions.

One can see that Rahul Gandhi's popularity is rising day by day. He is very much popular among the young generation and also among the people at the grassroot level. He is putting good efforts in reaching out to people.

CEC, ECs review Assam poll preparations

A full bench if the Election Commission is in Guwahati on a 2 day visit to Assam. led by Chief Election Commissioner, S.Y. Quraishi, the delegation met the political leaders and poll officialos to review the poll preparations. Moreover, they discussed poll praparations with returning officers and Superintendents of Police. AGP and BJP leaders formally alleged model code violation by the ruling Congress as they met the poll panel. Notably, Assam is set to go to the polls on April 4 and 11 in two phases. The first phase will involve 62 constituencies while the the remaining 64 constituencies will go to the polls on April 11. The number of polling booths is 23,813.

BJP announces second list of 54 candidates

The BJP has announced the second list of of candidates for Assam Assembly polls. The list has 54 names a day after it was finalized at a meeting chaired by party president Nitin Gadkari in New Delhi on Friday. The party had earlier announced the names of six candidates. The third and final list of the contesting candidates for the State polls will be announced on March 9. The notification for the first phase of polls in the State will be issued on March 10. On the other hand, the Trinamool Congress will expand its base in northeast. Party chief Mamata Banerjee has decided to contest all the seats in Assam that goes to the polls on April 4.

CPM announces list of poll candidates
