A 12 hour bandh seems to have disrupted normal life in Goalpara from early in the morning a day after a person was killed when police resorted to firing to disperse two groups of people who clashed with other.
Roads are wearing a deserted look as all vehicles are off from early in the morning. Shops and markets, schools and colleges, banks and officers are remaining closed under the impact of the bandh.
The incident took place at Potharkuwa when a group of miscreants sprang upon section of people when they were taking out a procession during holi celebration in the afternoon.
Police arrived in the spot and resorted to firing to disperse the mob. Later more policemen were rushed to the spot and the situation was brought under control.
