Poachers targets strayed away rhino

Poachers are believed to have been targeting a rhino in Jorhat district after it strayed out of Kaziranga on Friday.

The animal struck attention of the local villagers at an open paddy field at Jhanjimuk in Teok area on Friday afternoon.

But a section of the local residents told Assam Times that they came to see three poachers following the animal. Some of them further came to hear sounds of gunshots in the evening.  

Forest guards and Teok police have been trying to locate the one horn animal.
