Tarun Gogoi dead

Guwahati: Veteran Congress leader and former Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi is dead. He passed away in the evening at Guwahati Medical College Hospital where he was undergoing treatment of post COVID complications.

His condition deteriorated on Saturday as his organs did not properly respond to the line of treatment.

Don’t speak ill of China: ULFA-I to Dalai Lama

ULFA’s Paresh Baruah faction has asked the Dalai Lama not to speak ill of China during his upcoming visit to Assam. In a statement, ULFA(I) chairman Dr Abhijit Asom said that his anti-China remarks on the soil of Assam might trigger a 1962 like aggression on the state. Police remand for Soobodh

Dhemaji police got remand of Soobodh Biswas for nine days after the main accused in the Silapothar incident was produced a lower court on Monday. Medanta-Medicity doctors conducted press club clinic

The Gurgaon based Medanta-the Medicity Hospital on Saturday (25 March 2017) conducted the weekly evening clinic at Guwahati Press Club, where Dr Prasun Ghosh (Urology) and Dr Nabajit Talukdar (Cardiology) checked the health status of around 25 participants and advised them accordingly. Prez to visit Assam on March 31

President Pranab Mukherjee will be on a day long visit to Assam on March 31 to open the Namani Festival in Guwahati. Assam governor B Puruhit, chief minister Sarbanabda Sonowal along with many central minister's are scheduled to attend the opening ceremony in Guwahati. Biswas brought to Guwahati

An Assam police team has landed in Guwahati with Soobidh Biswas whom they arrested early in the morning on Wednesday 16 days after he allegedly incited violence in Silapothar. Immediately after it, Biswas and his associate were taken to an undisclosed location to be grilled on the allegations of inciting violence in Silapothar on March 6. Former minister dead in Delhi

Sarma, the former health minister of state in the PK Mahanta council of ministers in 1985 breathed his last at 9 in the morning at the Gangaram Hospital in the capital where he was undergoing treatment for a couple of weeks. Breather for eye surgery victims

The Gauhati High Court on Wednesday directed the Assam Government to compensate Rs 3.50 lakh each top five people who lost eye eights after undergoing a government sponsored cataract surgery at MMCH in Guwahati two years back.
