School Teacher accused of voyeurism arrested after media outrage

TANGLA:  In an embrassing moment for Tangla police a school teacher who was accused of voyeurism charges on his nextdoor neighbour on July 13 and was not arrested despite the victim neighbour lodging an F.I.R was arrested owing to media outrage on Thursday and forwarded to judicial custody.Reportedly,Partha Pratim Debsarmah(28) a resident of Balipota village under Mangaldai PS in Darrang district and a teacher of Kunguri L.P school of Kokrajhar district was staying in a rented accomodation at Milanpur area under Tangla PS. Based on an F.I.R by his neighbour Nirmali Tati(23) who alleged that the teacher had installed a spy pen camera at her room,Tangla police picked the youth for interrogation and released him the next day after recording his statement. The victim girl and her father stated to mediapersons that the accused and his maternal uncle a reputed Homoepathic doctor based in Tangla offered a sum of five lakhs for wothdrawing the charges on his nephew,however the victim refused to accept any. Talking to Assam Times, Tangla OC,Durgakingkar Sarma said, " We have recovered a pen camera from the place earlier and arrested the youth who has been forwarded to judicial custody ."  The accused youth had previously denied the allegations and stated that he was staying in the town for a workshop on Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed.). He was  booked vide Tangla PS case no.111/18 under sections 353 IPC and 66 IT Act.

TANGLA: Noted Bodo writer Dr.Rita Baro has fetched no less pride to the people of Assam when she was declared the recipient of the Sahitya Akademi Award in Bodo language. Dr Baro has been named for Sahitya Akademi award for her short-novel, 'Thwisam'. TANGLA,Dec 3: Fear psychosis grips the people of Khoirabari two days after the security forces eliminated ULFA top leader Rajen Deka which is shrouded in dire controversy. In yet another brutal incident, a man killed his wife in inebriated condition at Orangajuli tea garden near Panery on Friday morning. Milad-un-Nabi, the birth anniversary of Prophet Mohammad was observed with traditional fervour in Tangla on Friday.Celebrated on the 12th day of Rabi-ul-Awwal, the third month of the Islamic calendar, the day commemorates the birth anniversary of Prophet Mohammad. A group of nearly 10 armed  biker  miscreants looted ₹20 lakh from a Wagon-R car(AS06-E 7721) which was carrying bank cash from Udalguri SBI to Rowta SBI  near Kahibari in broad day light triggering sensation in the entire area on Friday.  The incident took place at 1.30 in the afternoon when an SBI employee,a bank guard and a driver were on the way to Rowta Chariali branch.  The SBI vehicle was forced to stop at gunpoint by the group of miscreants after it crossed Kahibari and snatched away the bag of money and their mobile phones . A total of ten promising athletes have been selected to represent Assam at Vishakhapattanam of Andhra Pradesh to participate in the 15th junior national inter district athletic meet to be held from November 24 to November 26 next.
