The North-East Affected Area Development Society (NEADS), a local humanitarian and development organisation based in Jorhat, has donated 15 oxygen concentrators and 300 N95 masks today to the authority of Jorhat Medical College & Hospital (JMCH). The distribution ceremony was held in presence of Dr. Ratna Kanta Talukdar, Purnima Baruah, Dr. Nayanjyoti Sharma and other officials from JMCH. The programme was undertaken in collaboration with SEEDS and International Medical Corps.
The oxygen concentrator bank initiated by NEADS is a part of COVID-19 second wave response which became operational on 12th June has been deploying a total 72 concentrators till now for emergency assistance in covid care centres, various public health institutions including district civil hospital, community health centres and primary health centres in the districts of Jorhat, Golaghat & Sivasagar.
With the mission of improving oxygen availability in the worst-affected areas, NEADS has been deploying oxygen concentrators to provide immediate support. The organisation is also extending support of essential medicines, medical equipments and personal protective equipments simultaneously.
