This is the photo of Hatikhali hospital, a sub-center of Langthing Hospital in Dima Hasao district. The hospital is posted with required numbers of doctors and Nurses and other staff. However, the hospital stand vacant all the time with no staff except the Choukidhar. The people of Hatikhali and nearby areas face difficulties of getting treatment. During the rainy season number of patients increases. This hospital is opened very few days in a week. Besides it has got no required medicines. People are facing a though time to get treatment from the private hospitals. This is all due to the negligence of the local political leader and the responsible Health Department of the the Dima Hasao district. The staff of the sub-center do not stay in their provided quarters. This hospital needs urgent attention from the concerned departments to provide all essential medicines and regular attendance of staff.

Till recently, I thought the illiterate villagers here in the hills are lazy and orthodox. But now I know they are really very hard working people without any help. They wake up early, pound rice, cook food and then go to Jhum. They work whole day, even when it rains or temperature soars high, and come home only after sunset. So, it's really sad to see the public health centre like this without staff. These poor villagers can't afford to go to town. They produce rice and some vegetables and not cash. I must say our leaders want nothing more than following the narrow footsteps of their predecessors. They are orthodox and seem afraid of change. They must learn to take risk to get things done for the poor.

This is a common scene of Assam, only salary increment does not matter here beacause there are only a few people who are benefitted from the salary hike i.e. Grade A & B Officers but Grade C & D are looser here and the % of Grade C & D is much more, so to compete themselves with the world they hv to do other business.
