Women Vendors award conferred to Morium Wary

The ‘Women Vendor Award, 2015’ was  conferred to Morium Wary of Saraibil,was being constituted by the NERSWN NGO,a NGO working for women upliftment at a function held at  Nerswn Gwjwn Dera campus, Chandrapara in Kokrajhar on Monday.

A mother of three children, Wary a poor housewife started his business with just Rs 20 in hand by opening a pan (bettle-nut) shop to sustain the family income at local market was honoured with the award on the fifth foundation of the Korajhar and Gossaiagon Aaijw Falangi Afat (Women Vendor's Association). Wary currently runs a tea stall at Soraibil bazaar successfully in Kokrajhar district. An illiterate manage to send her three sons to school. Her eldest son is now a doing in B.Sc, the second son class 12 and third in class 10.

The award consists of a citation, cash prize of Rs 10,000; Indi showl and a traditional Aronai. 

Professor of Kokrajhar Government college and writer Anjali Basumatary, ABSU general secretary Lawrence Islary attended the function as guests and gave away the awards.

Basumatary said that economic empowerment of the women is of utmost necessity and an encouraging step to the nation. She said that women should be empowered economically to become self dependent.

Lauding the women vendors for their immense support in the work force for their livelihood and support to the family, she said would be an example for the society.

Among others, Bishnu Narzary, chairman of Kokrajhar Municipality Board , chairperson of NERSWN NGO Birphung Narzary, executive director of NGO Raju Narzary, writers Rani Helen Wary and Bhabhani Bhaglary were present in the occasion with editor of Bibhungti-The Opinion Pratibha Brahma in the chair.
