UPPL Accuses BPF of Failing to Fulfil Poll Promises
KOKRAJHAR, October 5, 2026 — The United People’s Party Liberal (UPPL) on Sunday accused the Bodoland People’s Front (BPF)-led BTC government of failing to fulfil its election promises as it completed one year in office.
Addressing a press conference at the UPPL office in Kokrajhar, Wilson Hasda, MCLA, former Executive Member of the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC), Chief Whip and one of the party secretaries, alleged that the BPF had misled the people of the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) with five guarantees during the election.
“BPF misled the citizens of BTR by giving five guarantees before the BTR election. It has been one year now, but not a single step has been taken to fulfil those promises,” Hasda said.
According to the UPPL, the five guarantees included land pattas for all landless families; an annual budget of Rs 100 crore for unemployed youth; Rs 50 crore for economically weaker sections; Rs 40 crore for women’s empowerment; and Rs 10 crore for persons with disabilities and senior citizens.
Hasda also alleged that the peaceful environment created during the previous UPPL regime had deteriorated, citing the recovery of bodies and incidents of ethnic tension. He claimed that mutual trust among different ethnic communities had weakened and alleged that the present BPF government had failed to deliver benefits to different communities.
He criticised the BPF leadership over its failure to fulfil promises relating to Scheduled Tribe status for six ethnic communities in Assam and the release of NDFB leader Ranjan Daimary from jail.
At the same time, Hasda said the UPPL would cooperate with good policies of the BPF-led government. He urged the government not to indulge in what he termed “vindictive politics”, including cancelling job recruitments, removing beneficiaries from the Orunodoi scheme and manipulating PMAY beneficiaries selected during the UPPL regime.
Hasda alleged that the BPF-led BTC government had failed to adequately address the grievances of common people and maintain social integration in the region.
He congratulated the BPF-led BTC government on completing one year in office and appealed to its leadership to fulfil the promises made to the people of the Bodoland Territorial Region.
