ULFA political ideologue dies silent death
ULFA's political ideologue Bhimakanta Buragohain died at his residence in Tinsukia district on Monday. The end came at 5-30 in the evening at his Dhola Ahom Gaon residence following a massive cardiac arrest. The bachelor who lived alone with his security guards was keeping well during the last few months.
Popularly known as Mama, he was born in 1931 at Kakopathar in Tinsukia. He was also a painter and a sculptor.
He was arrested by Bhutanese Royal Army during Operation All Clear in December 2003 and handed over to India in January 2004. He was languishing in Tezpur Central jail and later in Guwahati Central Jail before procuring bail in December last year.
ULFA chairman Rajkhowa deeply condoled his death and said that the entire outfit has been left orphaned. The ULFA chairman, along with senior members of the outfit and cadres, have rushed to the senior ULFA leader's residence to organise his cremation.
Commander in chief Paresh Baruah also condoled his death and said that the outfit’s flag in the operational headquarters would remain half mast.
