Talks underway to break dam deadlock

A group of minister holds talks with KMSS, AJYCP, AASU and
TMPK to break the deadlock that paralyzed the NHPC owned hydel power dam in
Gerukamukh in Arunachal Pradesh.
The TMPK is first to hold talks with the GoM headed by Assam
power minister Pradyut Bordoloi at the Assam Secreteriat in Dispur at around 10
in the morning. Next to them is the delegation of the All Assam Students Union
who is also dead opposed to the mega dam that threatens to leave adverse impact
on the downstream areas of the Lower Subansiri river.
KMSS, who has been spearheading the entire agitation is the
third to have talked to the ministers’ group consisting of Pradyut Bordoloi, Dr
Himanta Biswa Sarma, Rockybul Hussain. Talks with KMSS took place at around 12
noon.
AJYCP is last to hold meet with the GoM where they expressed
grave concern over the possible downstream impact of the big dam.
The protesters called off the blockade on Tuesday in
Lakhimpur after they received invitation from Dispur to sit in talks. The GoM
further will hold talks with other civil societies and experts to break the
deadlock.
