Per capita income soaring!
Dispur claimed to have increased per capita income to Rs 49,480 in last fiscal from Rs 13,059 in 2001.

According to an official release on Monday, the GSDP at current prices has also increased to 14.85 per cent from 4.07 per cent during this period. GSDP now is Rs 1,62,652 which was Rs 38,313 in 2001-02.
Quoting the planning commission statistics, Dispur claims that the GSDP growth rate in the state during 2011-12 was more than that of Gujarat, Odisha, Punjab, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, UP, West Bengal .
Similarly, the Per Capita Income of Assam during this period was higher than Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, Odisha, Punjab, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, UP and West Bengal.
