One arrested for extortion in Kokrajhar

One Pradip Basumatary (24) was arrested for extorting money from the shop owners in the heart of Kokrajhar town near Assam Oil Petrol pump on Friday. Police said that two fake NDFB (S) were demanding Rs 17 lakhs from the shop owner.

Police sources said that the two extortionists came in Kokrajhar town for collecting money from the shops and had prior information about their movement.

Basumatary was arrested and another Daoki escaped from the spot, police said.

Police also claimed to have recovered six live ammunition from the person. Basumatary claimed that they had come to collect money from the shops.
