Nazira Girls’ HS School Honours Meritorious Students at Academic Awards Ceremony

With the aim of encouraging academic excellence and fostering the overall development of students, Nazira Girls’ Higher Secondary School organised an academic awards ceremony to felicitate meritorious students.

Continuing a long-standing tradition, a section of the school’s teaching staff instituted and presented several academic awards in memory of distinguished personalities, particularly eminent women who made notable contributions to society. The awards were conferred on outstanding students for their academic achievements.

The programme was held on June 20 at the school auditorium as part of the observance of Rabha Divas, commemorating the birth anniversary of cultural icon Kalaguru Bishnu Prasad Rabha. The event commenced with a chorus performance by students.

Senior teacher Ruhit Sabukdhara presided over the function, while Principal Tulsi Konwar explained the objectives of the programme. Hosted by teacher Manju Gharpholia Bora, the event also featured a keynote address by teacher Jinku Tamuliya, who spoke on the ideals and philosophy of Bishnu Prasad Rabha.

Retired teacher and noted poet Vijay Chandra Bora and Dr. Ajaylal Barua, Chairman of the Nazira–Simaluguri Development Authority, attended as guests and offered guidance and encouragement to the students.

Among the award recipients, Nurjahan Begum and Aditi Keot received the Late Meena Budhagohain Memorial Academic Award, instituted by teacher Kalpana Budhagohain, for securing the highest marks while advancing from Class IX to Class X.

The Dr. Abharani Bora Memorial Academic Award, instituted by Dipak Das, was presented to Chadrika Akhtar Rahman for securing the highest marks in the Higher Secondary final examination and to Mayurakshi Barua for achieving the highest marks while advancing from Class VI to Class VII.

Jahnavi Budhagohain received the Jyotiprasad Bordoloi Memorial Encouragement Award.

Chadrika Akhtar Rahman was also awarded the Late Punya Prabha Devi Memorial Rolling Trophy, contributed by former students, and the Sujai Ahmed Memorial Rolling Trophy, instituted by Yasmin Kara Razzak, for securing the highest marks in the Higher Secondary examination in the school.

Teachers, guests and attendees appreciated the initiative, stating that such recognition would motivate students to strive for excellence in academics and become responsible contributors to society.
