Meet on forest protection

Kokrajhar district administration has convened an official meeting on forest protection and stop of timber smuggling situation in the district in the presence of SP Kokrajhar involving forest department officials at DC office conference hall on Monday in Kokrajhar.

DFOs from different forest division and senior forest staffs, apart from senior officials from district administration participated the meeting, which was chaired by Madhav Prasad Sarma, Kokrajhar Deputy Commissioner.

Sarma said that the ongoing huge timber smuggling in the district has been noticed, which is not good sign for the district. The destruction of forest and wildlife should be stopped and congenial atmosphere should be restored in the district. He said that district administration will look after strong to check hollow of the smuggling matter whenever it required in coming days. He said that illegally encroach along the forest land would evicted and deforestation of forest will be stopped in the district. Sarma urged concern officials to step with stern action to meet early measures against forest destruction.

Shyamal Prasad Saikia, SP said that police administration was fully ready to cooperate while protection of forest department in checking smuggling and safe of natural beauty. He said that police administration has full security strength to cooperate during eviction and protecting timber smuggling in the district.
