House clears GST, ends session

After a ling wait, the three day special Assam assembly session on Thursday passed the Assam Goods Services Tax,2017 opening a new leaf in the country’ tax regime.

This would pave the way to simplify the country's tax structure which Parliament has already passed recently.

Apart from it, the government tabled six other bills which include the Assam College Employees (Provincialization) Amendment Bill, the Assam Appropriation Bill (No VI), the Assam Taxation (specified land) (Amendment) Bill, the Plantation Labour (Amendment) Bill, the Payment of Bonus (Assam Amendment) Bill, the Assam Board of Revenue (Amendment) Bill.
